Mookaite is from the Jasper family and is found only in Western Australia, it gets its name from the Mooka Creek where it is found, Mooka being the local aboriginal word for “running waters”. With its great array of earthy red, ochre, purple, burgundy and yellow colours, Mookaite is a perfect picture of the Australian Outback. It was formed approximately 125 million years ago from the fossilization of microscopic sea creatures called radiolaria.
